Aidonogie of South Ibie installs Sheikh Ukashat Okhimame As community Chief Imam

The Aidonogie of South Ibie kingdom, Oba Kelvin Danesi 11 has formally turbaned Sheikh Ukashat Suliaman Okhimame as the new chief Iman of the community.

The ceremony took place at the Aidonogie’s royal palace in South Ibie, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo on Monday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Danesi said the choice of Sheikh Ukashat was commendable as he deserved the position due to his knowledge and contributions towards the development of Islam in South Ibie and environs.

Danesi implored Muslim community in the clan to support and cooperate with newly turbaned Shiekh to achieve the religious task he is currently saddled with.

He prayed Allah to bless the position and give him the knowledge and wisdom to unite the ummah.

“The Turbaning ceremony of Imam Ukashat is ordained by Allah, he deserved the honour. I, therefore, seek your unceasing support and prayers for him for a successful tenure,’ he said.

Also speaking, the Clan Head of three Ivie, His Royal Highness Ali Sulieman and others congratulated the new chief Imam, describing his installation as a honour well-deserved.

Sulieman urged him to work cooperatively with other Imams and Ulamas in the community so that peace, progress and development can be achieved.

“Sheikh Ukashat is an embodiment of knowledge and I urge him to sustain the good work he is known for,” Sulieman said.

Responding, the new Chief Imam expressed his gratitude to Allah, the royal highness and the people of the community for the honour.

He promised to use his position to unite the Muslim community in the Clan.

“No community thrives in an atmosphere of disunity and infighting.

“I will use my position to preach peace among the Muslims in the community and its environs.

“I, therefore, seek your unwavering support and cooperation so that together we can achieve success,” he assured.

The event was attended by prominent personalities, including Gani Akokhia, member representing Etssko West constituency 11Edo House of Assembly l, Former Edo lawmaker Lukman Mohammed, Managing Director Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority, Engr Saliu Ahmed, Abu Inu-umoru, Chairman, Setraco Construction Company Limited and the Chief Imam of Auchi sacred kingdom, Prof. Zakariyau Oseni
