The Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA) has renewed its commitment in the construction of Earth dams and boreholes in Edo North senatorial district.

The dams and boreholes are geared towards ensuring that the residents in the senatorial district have access to potable water for domestic and industrial uses.

The BORBDA management recently advertised contracts for the construction of an Earth dam in Auchi in Etsako west Local Government Area along with supervision for the existing Otuo dam in Owan East Local Government Area

The contract also extended to the supervision and review of the design of Jattu dam in Etsako West Local Government Area.

Earth dams are highly effective as water reservoirs for various purposes, including irrigation.

The Managing Director of BORDA, Engr. Saliu Ahmed, a hardworking native of Auchi, led the organization in resolving the acute water shortages experienced in several parts of the district.

Through BORBDA’s intervention, provision of water has been greatly improved, making life a lot more bearable for the people.

The BORBDA water expansion program also includes the contract for the provision of the boreholes across Auchi, Elele, and other areas.

In continuation of the vision , the water reticulation systems in Owan East and Owan West Local Government Area respectively are also slated for rehabilitation .

The BORBDA management has been working hard to ensure that every community has access to clean water to reduce the number of women and children who previously had to travel long distances in search of potable water .

If Engr. Ahmed’s vision scales through, the Edo North people could finally see an end to the acute water shortage and also get involved in irrigation farming.

The BORBDA water supply intervention is a classic example of how a government agency should pursue its core mandate.

Engr. Ahmed’s leadership of the agency has been a blessing to the Edo state and the catchment areas.
