Edo North PDP Leaders support party zoning arrangements

The leaders of the Peoples Democratic party PDP in Edo north senatorial district of the state has taken an affirmative stand on the issue of zoning and rotational of elective offices in Edo state.

Zoning of elective offices remain a burning issue ahead of the Edo state governorship election slated for 2024.

The PDP leader’s stand on zoning arrangements was taken during a meeting of Edo North Senatorial District Elders Forum held on Sunday, 19th, November 2023, at
the Abuja residence of the former Chief of Staff to the former president, Goodluck Jonathan, Dr Mike Oghiadomhe .

In a communique released after deliberation, the leaders affirmed their belief in the party’s zoning and rotational as enshrined in the party constitution as amended and similarly urged other stakeholders to respect the arrangements.

Amongst those who attended the meeting are three former senators from the district namely Senators Victor Oyofo ,Yisa Braimoh and Francis Alimikhena.

Also in attendance were the former majority leader of the house of representatives, Rt hon Tunde Akogun along with Chief Olu Fshanu who is the secretary of the forum.

COMMUNIQUE OF THE MEETING OF PDP EDO NORTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

A meeting of Edo North Senatorial District Elders Forum was held on Sunday, 19th November 2023, at the residence of H.E. Chief (Dr) Mike Oghiadomhe , CFR , to examine the current political dynamics in Edo State with particular reference to the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

The Forum is concerned about the seeming tension arising and appeals to all stakeholders across the three senatorial districts to be statesmanly and patriotic in dealing with the issues in the over riding interest of the state.
Consequently, the forum resolved as follows :-

  1. The forum affirms its belief in the principle of zoning/ rotation as enshrined in the 1999 PDP constitution( as amended) .
  2. The forum, accordingly , calls on all stakeholders in edo state to respect the PDP constitution as laid down by our forebearers to sustain equity, peace, justice, inclusiveness , fairness , brotherhood, and geo-political balance .
