Agbebaku emerges Speaker of Edo Assembly

The member representing Owan West constituency in Edo north district of the state, Hon Blessing Agbebaku has emerged the speaker of the Edo state House Assembly.

Hon Agbebaku’s nomination as sponsored went without opposition from the members thereby paving way for him to emerged as Speaker of the 8th Assembly unopposed .

The newly elected Speaker first stint as a member of the Edo state House of Assembly came in 2007 which abruptly end due to political intrigues.

The inauguration of the House also saw hon Mary omozele Edekor, a former commissioner , representing Esan West emerging as deputy Speaker of the house.

In his acceptance speech, hon Agbebaku expressed appreciation to his colleagues for the confidence imposed promising not to let them down.

He promised to work with all members irrespective of party affiliation.

The PDP won 15 seats in the rescheduled March 18 House of Assembly election, leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) with eight seats and Labour Party (LP) with one.

Amongst the dignitaries who withnessed the inauguration was the state deputy governor comrade Philip shaibu, immediate past Speaker, hon Markus Onobu.
