‎

‎The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Edo North Senatorial District is at the centre of controversy over the identity of its senatorial candidate for the forthcoming National Assembly election.

‎

‎The party had earlier presented Prince Musa Braimoh from Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government Area as its candidate.

‎

‎However, in a dramatic twist, Prince Braimoh’s name was missing from the final list of National Assembly candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

‎

‎it was claimed that he had been substituted with one Comrade Aruna Abubakari as the new senatorial candidate for Edo North.

‎

‎Prince Braimoh has kicked against the move, describing it as an illegal substitution done without his consent, knowledge or formal withdrawal as required by law.

‎

‎

‎An unnamed party leader said what has deepened the confusion is that the new candidate, Comrade Abubakari, who remains a mystery. “He is unknown to most  party members, has no political trace in Edo North, and has never been seen at any party function.’

‎

‎”There is no available information about his background, his ward, his membership record, or even his participation in the primary election that produced him.”

‎

‎According to Political Pundits, this charade does not portray the ADC as a serious political party in Edo North, especially at a time when Nigerians are searching for a credible alternative platform.

‎

‎”If the ADC hopes to be taken seriously and gain the trust of the Edo North electorate, it must urgently come clean, unveil its candidate to the public, and put an end to this politics of a candidate behind the curtain.”
