Police Parade Man, 57, For Allegedly Molesting Stepdaughter In Etsako West

BENIN – The Edo State Police Command has paraded a 57-year-old man, identified as Kadiri Edenokun, over the alleged sexual molestation of his six-year-old stepdaughter in Ayua, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
Edenokun, a native of Ayua community in Uzairue, was arrested on September 10, 2026, following a report concerning the alleged incident.
According to the Police, the alleged offence occurred on August 26, 2026, at the suspect’s residence in Ayua while the victim’s mother, who is the suspect’s wife, was away.
Police sources said the case was reported at the Divisional Headquarters and was immediately transferred for discreet investigation.
Parading the suspect at the Edo State Police Command Headquarters in Benin City on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Daaor, represented by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Eno Ikoedem, condemned the alleged act.
The police said the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution upon the conclusion of investigation.
The Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspected cases of child abuse and other criminal activities to the police.
Speaking during the parade, Edenokun admitted to touching the child’s genital area but claimed that he only rubbed the surface of her genital organ.
According to him, he carried out the act on two separate occasions, while pleading for forgiveness and asking for another opportunity to turn a new leaf.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigation into the matter continues.
Under Nigerian law, sexual offences involving children attract severe criminal penalties, with applicable provisions depending on the circumstances of the offence and the relevant law in the jurisdiction.
