A Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Samson Omoarebokhae, was shot dead by unknown gunmen.
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 31, in Ozalla, Owan West council area.
Eyewitness reports stated that the SSA was on his way back from the Ozalla community after a social visit to a couple of family friends and relations when he met his cruel fate at the hands of the gunmen whose identities are yet to be unravelled.
Upon hearing the sad news, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Blessing Agbebaku, quickly dispatched a powerful delegation led by his Chief of Staff, Hon ODK Iruobe, to the family of the deceased to commiserate with them on the unfortunate incident and convey his heartfelt condolences.
[9/2, 16:10] Humphrey Adimoha: The delegation expressed their sadness at the sudden passing of the SSA, whom they described as hardworking and humble.
They emphasized that Omoarebokhaes’s death was a significant loss to his family, the state assembly, Edo State PDP, and the entire Owan community.
The Speaker encouraged the slain SSA’s family to find strength in God and assured them that those responsible for the heinous act would be identified and held accountable.
He also expressed deep sorrow over Omoarebokhae’s passing and acknowledged the difficult position it has placed him in.
However, he prayed for God to give the family the strength to cope with the painful loss of their son, brother, and provider.
Mr. Elijah Omoarebokhae, the deceased’s brother, conveyed the family’s appreciation to the Speaker for sending a delegation to offer condolences and stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time.
