The dust has finally settled in the favour of Dr Phillip Ugbodaga as the substantive Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the National Orthopedic Hospital , Edo State.

The confirmation of Dr Ugbodaga’s appointment was among the twelve Chief Medical Directors approved recently by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

An overwhelmed Dr Ugbodaga is delighted at the confirmation of his appointment as the Chief Medical Director (CMD).

Before now, two Edo-born medical doctors had laid claim to the seat of the CMD of the specialist hospital leading to a stall in the operations of the institution

The duo of Dr Ugbodaga and Prof Ogbemudia engaged each other in a never-ending battle of wits over who should act as the CMD of the hospital

At the peak of their dispute, both laid claim to the coveted CMD post and wasted no time in dangling separate letters of appointment to support their claim.

The road to freedom was not paved with gold and that may have formed the reason behind Dr Ugbodaga expressing profound gratitude to those who made it possible for him to scale the hurdle and eventually nick the coveted post

One of those Dr Ugbodaga, the Edo North-born medical doctor, has singled out for commendation for the role played in helping him scale the nervy hurdle of confirmation is Hon. Abubakar Momoh

Hon. Abubakar Momoh is the minister of the Niger Delta ministry

While in Abuja to complete the processes regarding his appointment, Dr. Ugbodaga took some time off to visit the minister in his office

During the Abuja visit, the new CMD presented his appointment letter to Hon. Momoh and also thanked him for the crucial role he played in facilitating the confirmation of his appointment

Responding, Hon. Momoh congratulated the CMD on his appointment, adding the minister of state for health was the one who made it possible
