Wailing and flow of tears recently took over Uluoke community in Uzairue kingdom of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State as the community laid to rest their kinsmen, Friday Pius killed by kidnappers.
Recall, that Mr Friday Pius a father of three was killed by the gunmen on Monday between 1am and 2 am. while his pregnant wife and sister were kidnapped.
The incident, resulted in a protest by women in the community, who appealed to the government at all levels for assistance.
The police in collaboration with the vigilantes later rescued the two abductors , the pregnant wife along with the sister.
According to the release by the police , the DPO, Anti Kidnapping team stationed at Edo North, and Operation Rescue along with Vigilantes/Hunters mobilised and went after the kidnappers .
“The operation led to the rescue of the two (2) women, namely, Esther Friday 32yrs and Joy Iregbeyen 23yrs whom the kidnappers abandoned and ran away because of the mounting pressure by the security teams.
The report further said the kidnappers shot one of the women on the foot out of frustration, but she is currently responding to treatment.”
