‎ Sadoh Set to Make History as First Female Chairman of Etsako Central

‎By DADA AYOKHAI

‎History will be made in Etsako Central LGA, Edo North, in July when Dame Vera Sadoh assumes office as council chairman after the scheduled local government elections.

‎Etsako Central is among the last LGAs created in Edo State during the late military regime of General Sani Abacha, with influence from then Chief of General Staff, Admiral Mike Akhigbe.

‎Sadoh’s path to the chairmanship was secured at the APC local government primaries where she emerged as the party’s consensus candidate. With no visible opposition from other parties, she is expected to be elected in July.

‎Born in the 1970s, Sadoh describes herself as a “true Edo woman” — Esan by birth, Etsako by origin, and raised in Edo South. She is an Uneme woman, daughter of the late Chief Sadoh Okumhoya, JP, a respected political leader, and Chief Mrs. Hawawu Sadoh, JP, a prominent businesswoman and rice farmer with influence across Edo and Kogi states.

‎Sadoh is not new to politics. She served as councilor for Ward 09 in Etsako Central and has previously contested for the Edo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives for Etsako Federal Constituency. She was also a chairmanship aspirant in the past.

‎At state level, she served as Assistant Logistics Officer on the Edo APC Governorship Campaign Council and has been active in mobilizing women for the party. She has coordinated women and grassroots structures for President Bola Tinubu, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Governor Monday Okpebholo, and Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa.

‎Nationally, she served as Matron of the Buhari Youth Organization, member of the Presidential Support Committee, and member of the Logistics and Protocol Committee of the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council.
