In commemoration of the Annual Remembrance of Road Traffic Crash (RTC) victims, Edo Sector Command had a Joint Press Conference to intimate the public on the devastating effect of Road Traffic Crashes.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Cyril Zango Mathew who spoke on the theme for this year’s Remembrance for RTC victims which is *” That Day”, said it was crafted to tell stories of various victims experiences including relatives and friends having such memories forever.
He stated that this year’s 2024 World Day of Remembrance for RTC victims are to remember all people killed and seriously injured on the road, draw attention of the general public on safety practices on the road, advocate for support for road traffic victims and victim’s families, and Promote safety activities and eventually stop further road traffic deaths and injuries.
He noted that from January to October 2024, Edo State recorded a total of 154 road traffic crashes, involving 984 persons including 28 minors, adding that a total of 71 persons were killed while 370 persons injured.
He however admonished, stakeholders and motoring public to adopt good practices of safer motoring environment into 2025 and beyond.
