‎Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, visited St. Philomena Midwifery and Nursing School in Benin City, Edo State, to support the institution’s building project with a donation of ₦15 million.

‎During his visit, Obi emphasized the importance of healthcare and education, stating that the world is looking for nursing services and that investing in these fields is crucial for Nigeria’s future.

‎Obi highlighted that nursing is a vital profession, and the world will face a shortage of nurses by 2030.

‎ He stressed that investing in education and healthcare is key to success and that these sectors are crucial for Nigeria’s development.

‎Obi mentioned that he supports over 50 nursing schools across Nigeria and visits schools and hospitals every week to emphasize the importance of healthcare.

‎Obi clarified that his visit was not for political purposes but to support the students and the future of Nigeria ¹.

‎- Rev. Fr. Jerome Idebe, the administrator of St. Philomena Catholic Hospital, thanked Peter Obi for the donation, stating that it will go a long way in completing the school’s building project.

‎ He assured Obi that the funds will be invested wisely for the benefit of the nursing students.

‎This visit is part of Obi’s ongoing efforts to support education and healthcare initiatives in Nigeria, reflecting his commitment to improving these critical sectors ¹.
