Ossiomo lnvestment Ltd. Alleges Illegal Invasion By Ologbo Community, CCETC
The management of Ossiomo Investment limited has raised an alarm over the illegal trespass of its land, located in Ologbo community, Ikpoba-Okha LGA, Edo State, by the Okao N” re Eguae of Ologbo dukedom, Chief Emma Iyase.
The alleged invasion which had bulldozers and pay loaders took place on 29 October, 2025.
In a statement signed by Barr. Josephine Oike, the Assistant secretary of Ossiomo Investment limited, the company said they acquired the land in 2008 from the then Oba of Benin.
The parcel of land with a total area of 1,511.269 Hectares has a survey plan No: OSA/2030/BD90 with area A measuring 589.611 Hectares and area B measuring 399.968 Hectares. The second plan with No: OSA/2132/ED 94 measuring 521.690 Hectares.
They were all acquired for industrial purpose in Ologbo. In July, 2008, the Certificate of Occupancy was issued to Ossiomo Investment limited by Edo state government. The land in question was never a communal land of any of the community that made up Ologbo dukedom as it was purely a government land that was de-reserved for Oba Erediauwa in the 90s which was transferred to Ossiomo Investment Limited with legal and valid relevant title documents.
The company statement revealed that every document about the land are all intact and valid.
The statement further explained that Ossiomo Investment Limited has enjoyed peaceable and unfettered occupation of the land with the cooperation of the late Enogie of Ologbo Dukedon, Prince Eguagie Akenzua without any threat or trespass from any of the community that make up Ologbo dukedom.
The company said it has attracted huge investment in terms of finance and infrastructure to Ologbo, Edo state and the country at large, stressing that it has also secured the financing of over 250 million dollars for the construction of a petrol chemical plant in Ologbo community.
The company explained that it also obtained a federal government licence for power generation, transmission and distribution within Edo State.
The statement however said Ossiomo Investment limited has been providing Ologbo with electricity for the past 5 years, adding that over 140 million Naira has been given to Ologbo current leadership in the past 8 months as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
They expressed displeasure over the unlawful invasion of Ossiomo land by the said chief Emma Iyase, Deacon Osazuwa, Eric Osawaru and some officials of the CCETC team.
Osiomo Investment Limited management however described its land invasion as an act of land grabbing, unlawful trespass and damage to critical infrastructure and threats to investment in Edo State.
The company described the action of Chief Emma Iyase as an affront and challenge to the memory of Oba Erediauwa of blessed memory. They however appealed to Edo State government, Security agencies and the palace of the Oba of Benin to call chief Emma Iyase, Eric Osawaru and Deacon Friday Osazuwa to order.
It also called on CCETC team to desist from entering any part of Osiomo land.
When contacted, Chief Emma Iyase, the Okao N’ r’ Eguae of Ologbo said they had earlier requested for landed documents of Ossiomo investment limited, adding that his refusal to bring the documents prompted the community to take over their land.
He emphasized that the company illegally took over the community’s land. He pointed out that the community had earlier written a petition against the management of Ossiomo company to The Nigeria Police and other security agencies over its atrocities in the dukedom.
When also contacted , the Chairman, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Hon. Eric Osawaru advised the management of Ossiomo Investment Limited to dialogue with the host community to promote lasting peace and progress.
He however denied supporting any of the parties in the issue , saying that he went to the community for a different mission entirely and not Ossiomo matter as efforts made to reach Ossiomo management in the past proved abortive.
Hon. Osawaru said he is ready and willing to interface with Ossiomo management and Ologbo community to resolve the issue for peace and progress in lkpoba Okha Local Government Area.
