Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted primaries on Friday to elect chairmanship and councilorship candidates for the upcoming local government polls.
In Edo North, the exercise produced Romeo Omoike as chairmanship candidate for Etsako West with overwhelming support after he had been adopted as consensus choice; the vote formalised his nomination in line with electoral guidelines.
Other chairmanship candidates to emerge were Enahoro Aikpokpo (Owan West), Irene Sado (Etsako Central), Ernest Oyade Aitelegbe (Owan East), Robert Akande (Akoko-Edo) and Sunday Ekpeson (Etsako East).
Abdullahi Bello, the primary election chairman, described the congress as peaceful and successful, saying 18 candidates had been confirmed.
State APC chairman Jarret Tenebe said the rancour-free process underscored the party’s commitment to internal democracy and unity, adding that APC was now strategically positioned for the council elections with credible flagbearers.
