The maiden meeting of the Coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo North district recorded a huge success with key political leaders and figures across party lines in attendance.
Among notable attendees were former Edo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Marvellous Omobayo,Former House of Representatives Member , Dr. Tunde Lakoju, Engr Peter Dokpesi, Son of the late Dr. Raymond Dokpesi, two term owan west local government chairman, Hon Daniel Asekhame , Hon Jim Fred , Engr. Jolly and others .
This gathering highlighted the party’s efforts to build a strong coalition and presence in the region and also challenged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.
The lnaugural meeting that has the Edo north former Senator, Engr Yisa Braimoh as Host also took place at his country home in Ihievbe at owan East local government.
In his address , the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Engr Omobayo, noted that the gathering of leaders from various parties signifies a new approach to fostering national growth.
He called on stakeholders to seize the opportunity presented by the Coalition ADC’s growing momentum, emphasizing the need for active engagement and grassroots mobilization. “We can’t afford to be complacent,” he stressed, urging serious commitment to attracting members across all levels of society.
Earlier in his opening remarks, Senator Braimoh, the National Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Coalition party in Edo North, emphasized the need for a new direction, citing the current economic hardship faced by Nigerians.
He noted that the meeting was a strategic effort to build on the party’s progress, unify its structures, and boost membership validation and mobilization across all levels, rather than just a routine gathering.
He stated that the coalition aims to rescue the country from those who promised prosperity but delivered hopelessness and hunger instead ,
highlighting the exorbitant prices of food items and essentials with statistics to illustrate the struggles of average Nigerians.
Dr. Tunde Lakoju, a former National Assembly member and National Population Commissioner, expressed his concerns about Nigeria’s deplorable state while speaking on behalf of those coming out of retirement to join the rescue team.
He expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s dire economic situation, stating that the country is in a state of crisis due to mismanagement and poor governance. Nigerians are facing extreme hardship as the economy struggles under ineffective leadership.
He emphasized that a trustworthy and people-focused alternative, like the Coalition ADC, is needed to steer Nigeria back on track and rescue it from its downward trajectory.
The inaugural meeting which also had former owan west local government chairman, Daniel Asekhame and former local government functionaries across in attendance commended the involvement of Dr Lakoju , Senator Braimoh and notable leaders in the district involvement in the Coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC) signals a significant development in the district.
The meeting featured the formal presentation of the Coalition ADC’s national guidelines for temporary leadership structures. The document outlined a framework for leadership teams from state to polling unit levels, emphasizing effective coordination, mobilization, and accountability. This structured approach aims to enhance the party’s organizational capacity and grassroots engagement.
Chief John Oyegun, the Edo State National leader of the Coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC), delivered a goodwill message, commending the Edo North district for embracing the party. He assured them of support from the national leadership, highlighting the party’s commitment to growth and development in the region.
