Okpokhuli Quarter ,Auchi Celebrates Maiden Edition of Okpokhuli Day

The Okpokhuli Quarter of Akpekpe in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, recently marked its inaugural Okpokhuli Day celebration on January 1st, 2026.
The event brought together sons and daughters from home and abroad, fostering unity and community spirit

Mr. Aminu Aileobini, President of Okpokhuli Quarter, emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence in achieving sustainable development for Akpekpe community. He stressed that meaningful progress can only be made when community members come together, unite, and foster harmony .

According to him, “The event brought together sons and daughters of Akpekpe community, both at home and in the diaspora, to celebrate their unity, cultural heritage, and shared progress.

“The celebration is also an opportunity to bring the people together to discuss challenges facing the community with a view to finding solutions”.

The oldest man in the community, Chief Mustapha Aileobini said promoting peaceful coexistence was essential to the progress of Akpekpe people.

He pledged to preserve the culture and traditions of the people of Akpekpe for the development of the area.

“I want to express happiness over the level of unity that has existed among the people of the Akpekpe community and no meaningful development can take place without unity.

“I therefore urge the people of the Akpekpe community to continue to live in peace and harmony as unity is the key driver of growth and prosperity,”he said

Highpoint of the ceremony was the drama presentation by Okpokhuli women, cultural dance by Kingdom dancers, awards to participants of the Quran and quiz competition, football competition and the lunching of Okpokhuli foundation.
