‎Okpebholo’s Admin Prioritizes Women’s Health, Dignity – Abdallah



‎The Edo State government, led by Senator Monday Okpebholo, remains committed to prioritizing women’s health, safety, and dignity, recognizing them as society’s bedrock.


‎Mrs. Abdallah stated this during a visit to the National Obstetric Fistula Centre (NOFIC) in Benin City, where she reaffirmed the ministry’s partnership to tackle obstetric fistula and enhance women’s healthcare.

‎She outlined plans for statewide awareness and prevention programs, broader cancer screening initiatives, and improved referral systems to eliminate neglected health conditions.



‎Mrs. Abdallah commended NOFIC’s commitment to treating obstetric fistula and related conditions, noting that despite healthcare improvements, many women in rural areas still suffer preventable childbirth injuries. She emphasized that obstetric fistula is a medical and social issue that affects women physically, emotionally, and socially, often leading to marginalization and isolation


‎ The Commissioner assured intensified outreach efforts in remote communities to ensure affected women receive medical care and emotional support

‎NOFIC’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Sunday Ileogben-Adeoye, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the Centre’s dedication to comprehensive fistula care, emphasizing the importance of sustained collaboration with the state government.
