Governor Monday Okpebholo and former Permanent Secretary of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Earnest Afolabi Umakhihe, have mourned Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who was killed in a Boko Haram attack in Borno State.
In separate condolence messages, Governor Okpebholo described Braimah’s death as a painful loss to Edo State and the nation.
In a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary Patrick Ebojele, the governor paid tribute to the late officer as a proud son of Edo who gave his life in service to Nigeria.
He said Braimah’s courage and sense of duty stood out, adding that the general remained committed to peace and unity until the end.
“General Braimah was a symbol of sacrifice and dedication. His service reflects the discipline and patriotism the nation continues to rely on,” the statement read.
Dr. Umakhihe, in a personally signed statement, said the death of the young officer from Warrake community in Owan East LGA left him in “intense grief and devastation,” given the manner in which the general was killed in the line of duty.
He extended condolences to the immediate family of General Braimah, his twin brother Alasah, Kash Braimah, the larger Braimah family, the traditional ruler and people of Warrake, Owan East APC leader Alhaji Abdulganiyu Lawani, and the Owan nation at large.
Umakhihe assured the families of his prayers for the repose of Braimah’s soul, describing him as a worthy ambassador of the Owan nation who distinguished himself in his career.
As a mark of respect, Umakhihe, an Owan House of Representatives hopeful, directed his media team to suspend all campaign materials regarding his 2027 aspiration for 24 hours, effective immediately.
