The series of appointments and dismissals under the Senator Monday Okpebholo administration is not showing any sign of abating soon as the new administration strives to strengthen the public sector as well as start on a clean slate.
The latest move is the dissolution of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission.
Technically, the Commission’s chairman, Prince Tijani Ugbodaga has been sacked, while the board stands dissolved
They will now have to contend with the saturated job market.
Prince Ugbodaga, who hails from the Etsako Central area in the Edo North district, was appointed chairman of the Local Government Service Commission by former Gov Godwin. Obaseki in August 2024, succeeding the previous chairman, Chief Tom Uloko.
The dissolution and the dismissal of the chairman were outlined in a letter from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Fred Itua.
The letter emphasized that the governor’s action aims to “enhance transparency and efficiency in the public service sector.”
It further stated that the development was part of Gov. Okpebholo’s vision to streamline government operations, ensure efficiency, and improve the overall performance of all public sector institutions within the state.
According to Mr. Itua, Governor Okpebholo also assured Edo citizens, the public, and the staff of the Commission that the dissolution of the board would not affect its ongoing official affairs in any way.
