The Edo state former deputy governor, Hon Philip Shaibu political allies, Mrs. Sabinah Chikere, has been appointed as the Director General of the reconstituted Edo State Sports Commission.
The appointment of the former deputy governor nominee might be Governor Okpebholo’s way of appreciating him for his support during the Guber election.
Recall, Shaibu donated vehicles and was also on the campaign trail of Senator Monday Okpebholo campaign .
The appointment of the reconstituted members of the Sports Commission was made by Governor Monday Okpevbolo and is subject to confirmation by the state assembly.
Before her new role, Mrs Chikere served as the Coordinator-General of both the Bendel Insurance Football Club and the Edo Queens. She was also a former permanent secretary in the Edo State civil service until her disengagement during the previous administration of Godwin Obaseki.
The announcement of the Commission’s board appointments was made public by the governor on Tuesday, December 3, with Amadun Desmond Enabulele taking over as chairman of the board, succeeding the former board led by Yusuf Ali, which was established in 2022 under former Governor Godwin Obaseki.
