Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Andrew Momodu as a Commissioner-designate.
Momodu a PDP chieftain is formally defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) today at the APC secretariat ahead of his appointment in Auchi, Etsako West LGA.
Momodu, a seasoned political administrator and public affairs practitioner, was a close aide to former Governor Godwin Obaseki and Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, and hails from Anwain clan in Etsako West LGA.
His appointment may be a replacement for Musa Yakubu Oshiorenua,from Auchi in Etsako west LGA , former Commissioner for Lands and Housing, now Chief of Staff to Governor Okpebholo.
This brings the number of commissioner slots allocated to Etsako West LGA to three, alongside Cyril Oshiomhole, Commissioner for Health, and Gani Audu, Commissioner-designate for Oil and Gas.
Momodu’s appointment comes amid speculation about his relationship with his former Principal , former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who had previously accused him of involvement in an attack on his Iyamho residence during his face off with Philip Shaibu.
Momodu will face screening at the Edo State House of Assembly for confirmation, as required by the constitution.
