Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo’s appointment of Andrew Momodu as Commissioner for Oil and Gas, and Kassim Otono as Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, has led to the concentration of oil and gas portfolios in Etsako West LGA.
Both appointees hail from Anwain clan in Etsako West LGA.
Otono, a lawyer, replaced Felix Isere, who was suspended for unauthorized fundraising.
Recall,Governor Okpebholo reassigned Chief Gani Audu, his former Chief of Staff, to the Ministry of Oil and Gas, but didn’t forward his name for Assembly screening, sparking speculation he’s been sacked .
The governor’s move has raised questions among political analysts, with some wondering if it’s deliberate or a misstep.
The Ministry of Mining, Oil, and Gas regulates the state’s natural resources, focusing on revenue optimization and safety standards.
