Obaseki, Braimoh, Akogun, Ugbesia, Ikimi form PDP Advisory Committee

By DADA AYOKHAI

The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic party PDP has constituted an Elders and Leaders Advisory Committee to drive the campaign process ahead of the September governorship election

The composition of the Advisory committee is to bring together some egg heads in the party who can offer their political wisdom and guidance on any issues aimed at unifying the Party and that also make success of the political arrangements with the ultimate aim of ensuring that the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, comes out tops.

The Advisory Committee which is chaired by the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, is made up of top-notch past and present PDP leaders in the state such as the Esama of the Benin kingdom, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion and Chief Tom Ikimi, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs

A few days ago, there were rumours about the composition of the party’s Campaign Council. The names of notable PDP leaders across the three senatorial districts of the state were conspicuously missing, leading to speculation as to the wisdom behind the move.

The Party in his wisdom had had arrangements for an all-inclusive Advisory Committee to provide guidance and direction to the Campaign Council.

In Edo North district, the members of the State Advisory Committee are Sen. Yisa Braimoh and Hon. Tunde Akogun,

The choice of Sen. Braimoh and Akogun as members of the Committee may not be unconnected with their unalloyed loyalty and commitments to the party over time.

They also command intimidating presence and wield political clouts in their respective political domains

Senator Braimoh is the leader of the party in Owan West and East local governments. The votes from the two local governments contributed to the victory of obaseki’s second term Guber election.

Owan West and the Ihievbe axis in the Owan East are no-go areas for the APC due to the immense clout and popularity enjoyed by Sen. Braimoh among the people
