Momoh salutes Ihonvere on emergence as Majority Leader of the House

As the Edo North senatorial district basks in the euphoria of the emergence of Prof. Julius Ihonbvere as the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abubakar Momoh has lent his voice to those who believe the appointment is well deserved .

An elated Hon. Momoh, himself a former two-term member of the House, said the elevation of the Owan born professor of international relations and history represents a huge leap forward for the district.

In a press statement released signed by him, Hon. Momoh hailed the elevation of Prof. Ihonbvere to the exalted post of Majority Leader, stressing it was well deserved.

Hon. Momoh also noted the eminent academician had paid his dues over the years and acquired the critical wealth of experience and temperament to act as a unifier and add value as well to the political development of the country

At the resumed plenary on Tuesday, July 4, the House Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Yusuf read out the names of the principal officers of the House. He named Prof. Ihonbvere who represents the Owan federal constituency as Majority Leader

Prof. Julius Ihonbvere was also a former Edo State SSG.

Hon. Momoh said, “I did not expect anything less having watched with keen interest your rapid progression in the political space and I am glad that your vibrant disposition is beginning to yield positive dividends.

“I knew you were destined for greatness right from the start and your recent elevation as the House Leader is a testimony to your character and intellectual sagacity. I pray that God grants you the wisdom to excel in your new assignment”.

The tussle for the Majority Leader position had pitched Prof. Ihonbvere against his kinsman from the Akoko Edo axis, Hon. Peter Akpatason who is a fourth-term member of the House.

Hon. Akpatason was the deputy majority leader in the 9th Assembly and had everyone who cared to listen that the reason why he sought a fourth term was to pave the way for him to occupy a higher office
