Hon. Lucky James, a former Director-General of Senator Francis Alimikhena’s campaign organization, has spearheaded a mass exodus of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members who were loyal supporters of Senator Alimikhena across the Edo North district.
The mass defection of the group led by Hon. James is expected to significantly dent the PDP’s numerical strength in the district.
This decision was part of the resolutions reached on Sunday, August 3, 2025, during an expanded meeting held at Alhaji Cassius’s residence in Auchi.
Hon Solomon Taiwo led the team from Akoko-Edo while Hon Ajayi Ohiafi led the team from Owan West,Hon Mustapha led the team from Owan East,Hon Issac Illukhor (JP) led the team from Etsako Central,Comr Richard Inumah led the team from Etsako East and Alhaji Cassius led the team from Etsako West.
The defection is significant because Senator Alimikhena’s political structure in Edo North is believed to be strong and well-organized.
The group, which includes several LGA coordinators and unit leaders, has decided to resign from PDP en masse and join another party, although the specific party has not been announced yet.
The convener, Chief Lucky James, who holds the record as the first Executive Chairman of Etsako West LGA and had earlier resigned from the party, expressed appreciation to the group members for their endurance.
He emphasized that the time had come for the group to make a critical decision, and it was unanimously agreed that members should leave the PDP with immediate effect.
