In a bid to curb the rising tide of insecurity, the Auchi community has ordered the immediate closure of the Hausa market located at Igbira camp known as Idanilace Village, pending a comprehensive security review.
The decision, announced by the Otaru-in-Council, follows an emergency meeting with the Divisional Police Officer, at the Auchi Royal Palace.
The meeting aimed to address growing security concerns and restore peace in the community.
According to a statement from the Auchi Royal Palace, the closure and other measures are designed to strengthen vigilance and protect residents.
The Auchi Vigilante Group has been mandated to ensure strict compliance with the directive and other security measures adopted at the meeting.
The move underscores the community’s determination to take proactive steps in tackling insecurity and ensuring the safety of its residents.
Similarly, residents are required to reside in recognized apartments while loitering are not tolerated.
”Able-bodied youths are encouraged to join the Vigilante Group to boost security. The community also resolved to discourage ransom payments, which fuel criminal activities.”
A movement restriction advisory has been issued, urging residents particularly those outskirts to be indoors by 6:00 p.m. and avoid isolated areas. The measures aim to protect residents and preserve peace,
