: The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has cleared 10 candidates under different political platforms to contest for the sole seat to represent Edo North district in the February 2023 National Assembly election.
The INEC publication of candidates details is in compliance with the relevant sections of the Electoral Act
The names of two prominent Edo-North politicians stood out among the ten candidates cleared by INEC. They are Comrade Adams Oshiomole, former APC National Chairman, and Hon Paschal Ugbomeh, a former chairman of the Etsako Central local government area.
The duo of Comrade Adams Oshiomole and Hon Paschal Ugbomeh, each flying the flag of the APC and the PDP respectively, hail from Etsako West and Central of the Edo North senatorial district.
Also on the list are the party candidates of the Action Alliance, AA, Mr. Onaivi Francis Ojo; Hon. Ehidiame Paul of the African Democratic Congress, ADC; and Hon. Akhimie Kingson of the Action Democratic Party, ADP.
Others are Hon. Edeipo Osiriame of the Boot Party, BP; Hon. Anselm Eragbe, Labour Party, LP; Hon. Igwemoh Ayemere Andrew, New Nigeria Peoples Party; NNPP; and, Hon. Akharume Frank, Social Democratic Party, SDP.
Pundits have said the list released yesterday by INEC is not the final one given the plethora of cases instituted by several aggrieved groups and individuals, most of which are pending at various stages of judicial adjudication.
