‎Group Sets To Organize Owan Day‎

‎The Owan people of the Edo North district are set to boldly establish a special day dedicated to celebrating “Owan Day.”

‎Known fondly as the Owan’s, this vibrant community is ready to join the ranks of other communities in the Edo North district that honour their history, culture, and progress with a dedicated annual event.

‎Barrister Richard Ofen-Imu, President of the Owan Conscience Group, made this announcement via a press statement issued by the socio-cultural organization.

‎The Owan Day, he said, is the brainchild of his group.


‎He further stressed that there is a need for a unified Owan front.

‎According to him, the maiden edition of the Owan Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2025, in Afuze, the administrative headquarters of the Owan East local government area.

‎The Owan enclave encompasses two local government areas: Owan East and Owan West, solidifying a strong regional identity.

‎Bar Ofen-Imu added that preparations to make the Day a memorable one are at an advanced stage

‎He also provided a peep into what to expect as he said the event will feature a potpourri of activities designed to showcase the rich history and culture of the Owan nation


‎ Top on the list of the interesting activities lined up for the celebration of Owan Day includes a lecture on Owan’s history, growth, and development.

‎Additional activities include cultural displays that will brilliantly showcase the Owan culture and heritage, along with a cultural exhibition.


‎Barrister Ofen-Imu is confident that the event will not only highlight the richness of Owan culture but also foster unity and collaboration among the two local government areas and their people.

‎Expectedly, the Owan Day event is coming at a time when Owan’s role and leadership have taken centre stage in Edo politics
