Fuel Marketers Order Closure of Filling Stations Over Harassment by Edo Taskforce
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) had threaten to
suspend sales of all petroleum products across the state if the Edo state Petroleum monitoring taskforce continued to harass their members.
According to the Edo State chairman of IPMAN, Alhaji Baba Saliu said after an emergency meeting by the association said members are determined to shut down all their filling stations.
Alhaji Saliu said that the move became necessary due to the constant harassment of filling stations from officials of Edo State Petroleum Monitoring Taskforce under the guise of measuring their fuel pumps.
The Edo IPMAN chairman insisted that officials of the taskforce have no power to measure their fuel pumps.
He warned that any filling station that opens for business in violation of the order by the association will attract a fine of N500,000.
Alhaji Saliu added: “After a careful assessment of the activities of members of Edo State Petroleum Monitoring Taskforce, petrol marketers have been directd by IPMAN to shut down their filling stations starting from tomorrow May 28, 2025. This is due to the constant harassment of our members by officials of the taskforce under the guise of measuring their fuel pumps.
“We can no longer tolerate this. We have reached the limit of our endurance. We have severally complained about this but they are not ready to listen to our grievances. Against this backdrop, we’ve no choice but to close our filling stations. Violators will be fined N500,00.”
