The family of Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor, JP OON, the late dethrone traditional ruler of Uwanno Kingdom in Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area recently announced his passing.
Ordinarily, such news is followed by an official announcement from the Local Government, followed by condolence messages and visits to the bereaved family.
Given the circumstances of Dr. Egabor’s suspension and removal, it’s likely that the lack of official announcement and condolences from the local government is due to his status as a removed traditional ruler at the time of his death.
His challenge to the legality of his removal may have also complicated the situation, leading to the absence of customary protocols.
He was suspended and later removed by the Edo State Governor in April 2025 due to rampant kidnappings in his domain, though he challenged the legality of his removal before he passed away in December 2025.
