‎Former Etsako East LGA Chairman declines  Okpebholo’s Appointment

‎A former Etsako East council chairman, Hon. Aremiyau  Momoh, has declined to serve as a member of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (ESIEC.

‎Governor Monday Okpevbolo had previously announced the reconstitution of the electoral body’s board, naming an eight-member committee to lead it.



‎Hon. Momoh , a seasoned politician, said his rejection of the appointment is due  to personal reasons.



‎ The governor  has forwarded the names of  other seven-member  board to the state assembly for screening and confirmation




‎The declination of the offer  surprised many who recall the cosy political relationship between the governor and the former Etsako East council chairman




‎Besides, Hon Momoh is reputed to be a strong supporter of the governor and was fingered as one of those who helped to galvanize support for the governor in Etsako East and beyond




‎ Now, Gov. Okpevbolo will concern himself with finding a suitable replacement for the nominee.



‎ Additionally, the urgency to quickly inaugurate the board of the electoral body has raised speculation about the state government’s eagerness to conduct another local government election.
