Female aspirant Hon. Dr. Mrs. Adetutu Owolabi has declared for the Akoko Edo Federal Constituency seat, the first woman in both Akoko Edo and Edo North to do so.
Owolabi, a native of Ikiran-Ile in Opameri, Akoko Edo, previously contested the APC House of Reps ticket four years ago but lost to the incumbent.
She is expected to contest for the APC ticket alongside former Edo IRS boss Bankole Balogun. Incumbent Peter Akpatason, now serving a fourth term, has yet to declare.
In an open letter to party leaders, Owolabi pledged purposeful representation, citing her record in women and youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and economic development.
She promised to attract projects, expand job opportunities, and ensure democratic dividends reach local communities describing herself as a person who understands the challenges facing her people and is prepared with practical solutions to address them.
She further said Akoko Edo deserves representation that listens and delivers, pledging to attract development projects, create youth jobs, improve education and healthcare, and ensure democratic dividends reach every community. “Together, we can build the Akoko Edo of our dreams,” she wrote.
