A former Labour Party (LP) governorship aspirant in Edo State, Hon Ernest O. Abegbe has resigned from the party.
Abegbe, who was one of the aspirants for the governorship position in the 2024 primary election, announced his resignation from the LP in a statement personally signed dated 17th October, 2025, addressed to party leadership and his supporters.
According to him, the decision became urgently expedient considering the unending crisis rocking the party and responses from comprehensive consultation with his family, supporters, stakeholders and political associates across the 18 local governments of Edo state and beyond.
Hon Abegbe who is a Financial Expert, Economist, Educationist and seasoned professional with a wide range of experience in both public and private sectors for decades declared that he is more resolute in his quest for better and greater Edo State and Nigeria at large. He appreciated party leadership for the opportunities given to him to contribute and support the party mission and value.
