The Executive Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Area ,Hon. Marvellous Muhizu Zibiri is proving naysayers wrong with his people-oriented approach to governance.
Within a short period in office, Hon. Zibiri has performed a groundbreaking ceremony for the remodelling of three popular local markets in the area, namely Uchi, Ughele, and Jattu
These traditional markets are patronized by the people, and this is the first time in recent history that the local government administration has attempted to remodel them.
The remodeling of the popular markets is a collaborative effort between Etsako west LGA and Aliade Engineering and Construction Company Ltd.
Addressing journalists during the laying of the foundation ceremony, Hon. Marvelous said the partnership is geared towards boosting the economic activities in the local government.
He said that the remodeling of the markets was the first phase in the area pointing out that plans are on to remodel other markets to bring the dividends of democracy to the people of the local government area.
The chairman who assured that same gesture will be extended to other communities before the expiration of his tenure in 2026, pointed out that his administration has taken a critical look at the abandoned projects in the local government area and would take appropriate and timely intervention to ensure that all such projects among those commenced last year are also timely completed including the markets projects.
He therefore appealed for support of the traditional rulers, critical stakeholders, youths, market men and women to support the administration to bring more development to the area and to the entire state .
He admonished the benefitting communities to take ownership of the projects by ensuring that standards are not compromised and any negative observation be reported to his office for immediate action.
The council boss described the flagging-off ceremony as a “feat,” stating that he is fully committed to improving the economic situation of the local government and making sure that he left it better than when he assumed office.
He added that the remodelling of the markets is a first step in his administration’s vision for the local government.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Aliade Engineering Ltd, Engr Adah Ochoechi, pledged to leverage the company’s extensive experience in handling similar projects across the country to ensure timely delivery and adherence to specified standards for the market remodelling work.
He assured that the company is prepared to deliver quality jobs to the satisfaction of all and promised that the project will be delivered timely with international best standards.
In his speech, a representative of the Otaru of Auchi, thanked the council boss for his exemplary leadership by ensuring the maintenance of law and order in his domain and the entire local government area.
He attributed the success of the chairman to his consultations in the decision making process and expressed the gratitude of the community for the pilot scheme of the remodeling markets in Auchi metropolis including Jattu markets, but as Oliver twist he appealed for more projects to the area and promised their continued support to the administration of the council as well as the state.
The various Heads of Departments in the local government, elected Councillors, top politicians, community leaders, a representative of the Otaru-in-Council, and other stakeholders were present at the flag-off
Alhaji Yahaya Sheshi, Engr David Ameh, Arc Ayoola, and Engr Friday Achepa represented Alaide Engineering Ltd., the contractor handling the project.
The representative of the Otaru in Council emphasized deep appreciation to the council boss for his outstanding leadership, particularly in the realm of security and credited the successes recorded under Hon Zibiri to the transparent governance approach that allows the input of critical stakeholders in the decision-making process.
He lauded the selection of Auchi and Jattu for the pilot scheme of the market remodelling project and, like Oliver Twist, asked for more. He also assured the council boss of unwavering support for the Obaseki administration.
