Etsako Federal Lawmaker, Hon Anamero Sunday Dekeri, has installed a 10kW solar power system with lithium battery backup at Edo State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH), Auchi, ensuring 24-hour electricity for critical medical services.
The solar installation at the hospital’s Obstetrics Ward will support emergency procedures, childbirth services, lab operations, and medication storage, enhancing patient safety and healthcare efficiency.
Hon Dekeri’s donation is a significant contribution, especially considering it’s the first of its kind from a federal lawmaker representing Etsako federal constituency since 1999
Previously, Senator Francis Alimikhena donated a dialysis center to the hospital during his tenure .
Hospital authorities praised the intervention as “timely and life-saving”, saying it will reduce reliance on diesel generators and ease operational challenges.
The provision of the 10kW solar power system with lithium battery backup to the hospital will significantly improved the hospital’s operations with
reliable power supply which enhances patient safety, boosts efficiency, and strengthens maternal and child healthcare.
The hospital can now provide more consistent healthcare services, including emergency response and safe operation of medical equipment.
Similarly, the facility will improve the working environment for staff and patient care.
