The member representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency of Edo State, Honourable Murphy Osaro Omoruyi has sponsored a bill for the establishment of a Federal Institute of Technology in the Egor-Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency.
The bill provides as follows: “An Act to provide for the establishment of the Federal Institute of Technology, Egor- Ikpoba Okha, Edo State, that shall provide full- time courses in Science and Technology as practiced in Diploma, First Degrees and Post Graduate Degrees in Engineering, Applied Technological Sciences, Technology Business Management and other fields of Science and Technology, carry out research, innovation development and Technological techniques and other related matters, “
When passed into law, the institute shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal and may sue or be sued in its corporate name.
The school which shall be a training institute for the development of technology in the country, shall be supervised by the federal ministry of Education through the National Universities Commission (NUC) who shall be responsible for approving and regulating all academic programmes in the institute to ensure quality compliance and provide funds for academic and research programmes , infrastructures and renumeration of employees among others.
According to Honourable Omoruyi, the objectives of the school includes but not limited to encourage the advancement of learning in Science and Technology and to hold out to all persons without distinction of race, creed, sex or political conviction.
The federal lawmaker pledges to use the opportunity given to him by the good people of Egor/ Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency to impact positively in the lives of the people.
