Hon. Dr. Richard Edosa, the Honourable member representing Oredo West Constituency at the Edo State House of Assembly, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), leaving the Labour Party (LP).
This move isn’t new, as he was one of the four lawmakers who defected to the APC in March 2025, along with four others.
Dr. Edosa cited the irreconcilable crises within the Labour Party at both state and national levels as the reason for his defection.
He was officially presented the paraphernalia of the APC, which is the broom by the state Secretary of the party, Lawrence Okah at the Oredo Ward 7, in Benin City.
The Edo APC State Secretary,Lawrence Okah welcomed Dr. Edosa and commended him for bringing 124 members of the Labour Party along with him.
Also the former member representing Oredo West Constituency,Hon. Chris Okaeben praised Dr. Edosa’s achievements and advised him to remain focused and determined to succeed in his new endeavor
Addressing the mammoth crowd of Hon. Dr. Edosa’s supporters at ward 7, Okah said Dr. Edosa has earlier being received into the APC by the leadership of the party, but they also thought it wise to finalize it officially in his ward hence politics is said to be local.
In his remarks, Dr Edosa expressed admiration for Governor Monday Okpebholo’s work and decided to join forces with him to develop Edo State.
Dr. Edosa emphasized the importance of unity in achieving the governor’s vision and promised to work together to deliver meaningful results for the people .
He said he wants to join hands with the state governor so that the 2.5 million votes he (Okpebholo ) has promised president Bola Tinubu in 2027 election will be possible adding that, such can only be done through unity.
Dr. Edosa further said he has fulfilled 80 percent of his campaign promises to his people, stressing that, he is willing to do more so that life can be meaningful for the people of the state.
