‎Edo State Joins The Bug Of  Female Police PRO

‎The Nigeria Police , Correctional Service and the Nigerian Army  have made significant strides in  promoting gender inclusivity and empowering women in leadership roles

‎Recently, the Nigerian Correctional Service appointed Chief Superintendent of Corrections Jane Osuji as its first female Public Relations Officer, marking a milestone in the agency’s history.

‎Osuji brings extensive experience in public relations, having served in various capacities, including Press Secretary to three successive Ministers of Interior.

‎Similarly, the Nigeria Police Force has also appointed its first female Force Public Relations Officer, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Olabisi Alofe Kolawole.
‎.

‎Earlier, The Nigerian Army  appointed Lieutenant Colonel Onyinyechi Anele as the Acting Director of Army Public Relations.

‎She is the first woman to occupy the position.
‎Anele, a member of Direct Regular Course 15 and a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.


‎Prior to her new role, Anele completed a six-month strategic course at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre and was posted to the Department of Civil-Military Relations.

‎She also previously served as Public Relations Officer in the Office of the Chief of Army Staff.

‎Until her elevation, she was attached to the Department of Civil-Military Relations


‎These appointments demonstrate the commitment to gender inclusivity and empowerment within the security agencies


‎Edo State was also cut in the bug of having  a first female Public Relations Officer with the appointment of  ASP Eno Ikoedem who  resumed duty as the new Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, making her the first female to hold this position.

‎She was  commissioned in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in English, and currently pursuing a Master’s degree.


‎Her appointment was contained in a statement Issued by the Administrative Officer in the Police Public Relations Unit of the command, ASP Emmanuel Nyokema.

‎A native of Akwa Ibom State, ASP Ikoedem was commissioned in 2022 after completing a five-year programme at the Nigeria Police Academy, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in English. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in English at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), reflecting her commitment to continuous professional development.


‎ASP Eno Ikoedem has a challenging task ahead, strengthening police-public relations which is not much to be proud  of  and also  promoting the police image  through various channels.

‎Her appointment comes at a critical time, with recent incidents affecting women, including the assault on a female journalist in Edo

‎.The police response to such incidents henceforth  will be under scrutiny.
