Edo PENSIONERS : COMPLETE ‘AM ALIVE’ SCREENING OR RISK LOSING BENEFITS‎

‎By DADA AYOKHAI

‎The Edo State Government has warned pensioners who have not completed the ongoing “Am Alive” screening exercise to do so or risk being removed from the state pension payroll.

‎The warning was issued by the Edo State Head of Service, Dr. Antony Okungbowa, during a meeting with stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Finance and members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP).

‎According to Dr. Okungbowa, the exercise is crucial to ensure transparency and accuracy of the pension payroll, as some pensioners remain unaccounted for, including cases where entitlements are still being paid to deceased beneficiaries.

‎The Governor has approved an additional grace period to enable outstanding pensioners to complete the verification exercise. The online screening has been extended to February 12, 2026, and can be accessed via link.

‎Permanent Secretary and Chairman of the Edo State Pension Bureau, Mr. Washington Osaro Abbe, urged pensioners to take advantage of the extension, while NUP Chairman, Comrade Samuel Okhuelegbe, assured that the union would intensify awareness campaigns to ensure compliance.
