Edo PDP Expresses Satisfaction With Progress Made at State Election Petition Tribunal

The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is buzzing with enthusiasm as it celebrates the positive trajectory of its petition before the Edo State Election Petition Tribunal

This was contained in a communique that was issued after a strategic meeting of the party’s Caretaker Committee

The meeting which took place in Benin was convened by the state chairman of the party, Hon Tony Aziegbemi who also chaired the session

Virtually all the members of the Caretaker Committee were present at the meeting to underscored the importance attached to it

Hon Henry Duke Tenebe, Secretary of the caretaker Committee signed the communique, in which the party took some firm position on five pivotal issues: zonal arrangements, the suspended council chairmen, the House of Assembly, the party secretariat, and of course, the ongoing tribunal case.

Both the meeting and its outcome signifies a renewed commitment to advancing the PDP’s goals and ensuring its voice is heard loud and clear

In a spirited update on the election petition case currently before the Tribunal, the party expressed its deep satisfaction with the progress achieved thus far.

It applauded its guber candidate, Bar Asue Ighodalo, for demonstrating remarkable hard work, unwavering courage, and dedicated leadership in the quest for truth and justice.

Also, the party firmly declared its commitment to stand by Asue Ighodalo, confident they would be vindicated at the end of the day

Additionally, the party voiced its discontent over the ongoing occupation of its secretariat in Benin, announcing that efforts are underway to remove the “illegal occupant”, even as it reassured members that discussions are actively taking place with the security agencies to resolve the situation.

Importantly, the party said it is committed to a lawful approach in addressing the situation and called for restraint among its members while the issues are being sorted out without recourse to “crude” methods.

As the party gears up for the upcoming zonal congresses, it urged its members to remain resilient and vigilant, emphasizing the importance of waiting for directives from the national leadership.

The communique also delved into the workings of the state assembly, acknowledging the tough circumstances it faces.

The party believes that the assembly has the potential to overcome its current constraints and establish itself as an independent body, embodying the spirit of checks and balances that our constitution upholds

In closing, the party reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening its structures and better serving the people of Edo State, showcasing its commitment to progress and accountability.
