The Edo State Government has unveiled the members of the newly reconstituted Governing Council of the Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma.
This reconstitution aligns with the governor’s commitment to rejig the Governing Council of the state-owned university to better fulfil its mandate, as envisioned by the university’s founder, a former governor of the state in whose honour the university was named.
In a press statement signed by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Mr Musa Ikhilor, it was revealed that the seven-member Governing Council will be chaired by Chief Dan Osi Orbih, a former chairman of the Edo PDP and one of the key figures who helped Monday Okpevbolo secure victory in the September 21 Edo gubernatorial election.
Chief Orbih is from Etsako Central in the Edo North district.
The Governing Council also includes two other representatives from Edo North: Hon. Lukman Mohammed and Prof. Eric Kelly Inanemo Omogbai.
Hon. Mohammed hails from Etsako west LGA , was a former member of the Edo state House Assembly and has also represented Edo North on the board of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas.
Prof. Omogbai, a retired accomplished scholar at the University of Benin, is from Etsako East.
Overall, Mr. Musa Ikhilor announced that seven eminent citizens of the state have been appointed to serve on the Governing Council.
Edo North district boasts of three members of the seven-member Governing Council while Edo South and Central has two each .
Other members of the reconstituted council are Prof. Idialu Jeremiah Uwaifo, Prof. Omoruyi Osahon, Mr. Martin Osakwe and Prof Steve Iyayi.
