Edo North Gets 7 Slots in APC’s 24 member Transition Committee

The Edo state chapter of the All Progressive Congress ,APC recently constituted its 24-member transition committee to interface with a similar committee established by the state government to ensure a smooth transition of power in November.

The APC transition committee is headed by a former Edo deputy governor, Dr. Pius Odubu.

Edo North district the only Senatorial district won by the APC out of the 3 in the state which also provided the bulk of the votes that secured the APC’s victory in the governorship election was allocated seven slots in the 24-member committee.

The Edo North district consists of six local governments.

The Owan East, Owan West, and Akoko Edo each received a slot, while the Etsako West and Etsako East each received two slots respectively.

Strangely, no slot was allocated to Etsako Central.

Several prominent APC leaders from Edo North were selected to be part of the transition committee.

They include Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, a retired federal permanent secretary and former Edo APC guber aspirant from Owan East.

He is highly tipped to serve as a key figure in the incoming APC administration.

Others include Hon. Taiwo Akerele, former Chief of Staff to Governor Godwin Obaseki during his first tenure Hon. Godwin Eshieshie, former chairman of Etsako East LGA; Prince Kassim Afegbua from Etsako East, who served as the media consultant to the Edo APC Campaign Council; Hon. Ohio Omo-Ezioma from Owan West and, Hon Gani Audu former Etsako west council chairman and lawmaker;
