Ahead of the September 21
governorship election in Edo State, PDP leaders in Edo North are making efforts to garner popular support for the party and its gubernatorial candidate, Barrister Asue Ighodalo.
Hon. Henry Duke Tenebe, a prominent Edo North PDP leader was at his hometown, Ikabigbo, Etsako West local government area along with his team to launch an empowerment program aimed at rallying support from women, who are seen as crucial to the party’s success.
Borderline News 24 learned that the empowerment initiative has been ongoing for several years, and this year’s event stood out due to its exceptional organization, flair, and the crowd pulling.
Hon. Tenebe explained that the initiative is a way of showing appreciation to his constituents who have consistently supported him and the PDP .
He paid glowing tributes to Governor Godwin obaseki for living up to expectation as governor of Edo state citing his achievements in the oil palm production with the building of farm estates and also the payment of 70,000 minimum wage at a time the federal government is yet to stand straight.
The only competent person to continue the good works of Governor Godwin obaseki according to him in grand style is Asue Ighodalo .
Hon Tenebe similarly urged the people to disregard the APC during the election accusing them of being the architect of the economic hardship, banditry, kidnapping , terrorism , perpetrators of falsehood and other vices presently facing the nation.
The highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of financial support to over 100 women from Ikabigbo to cushion the effects of the economic hardship.
The presentation was performed by Hon Henry Duke Tenebe and other party dignitaries which includes the PDP Etsako west LGA Chairman, Hon Vatsa Momodu, PDP senatorial secretary,Hon Sheriff Baba idenolomhe, Leader Akeem Zibiri, the Director General of Asue Ighodalo for ward 12, hon isah Abu, Councilor representing Ward 12, Hon Frank Asimu and other PDP ward chairmen present
In response, the excited group of women and others expressed gratitude to Hon. Tenebe through songs as a worthy son of the soil ” who has consistently shown extraordinary love for the people.
Eulogizing the women for their unparalleled passion, particularly concerning the success of a candidate in an election, Hon Tenebe asked them to provide unwavering support to Asue Ighodalo, describing him as the most suitable candidate to lead Edo affairs.
Prominent Edo North PDP leaders attended the event to show solidarity and support for Tenebe’s gesture. They included Etsako West PDP chairman, Hon Vatsa Momodu, the Asue Ighodalo Ward 12 coordinator, Hon Isah Abu, Edo North PDP Senatorial Secretary, Hon Sherrif Baba Idenolomhe, Prince Akeem Zibiri and several other Edo North PDP stalwarts.
They all commended Hon Tenebe for his gesture and encouraged others to replicate such empowerment initiatives in their respective areas as a way of giving back to the people.
They also urged the women who were the direct beneficiaries of the Tenebe gesture to vote massively for the PDP and its gubernatorial candidate in the upcoming election, assuring them that they would not regret the trust and hope reposed in the party.
Mrs. Helen Ironobu spoke on behalf of the women, thanking Hon Tenebe for putting women at the core of his outreach efforts.
Mrs Ironobu further described Hon Tenebe as a “doting father” who cares about the welfare and the well-being of his children and prayed that Almighty God should grant him the strength and resources to sustain the legacy which will be extended to the ward and the local government.
She emphasized that Ikabigbo women would not disappoint Hon Tenebe for his numerous touching gestures towards the women and added that she would be leading from the front to mobilize the people to ensure the PDP records a landslide victory in the upcoming election
