Prince Yussuf Asamah Kadiri, the Edo State LP deputy governorship candidate, has dismissed the rumours surrounding his eligibility for the upcoming Edo governorship election, affirming that his position is secure and indisputable.
He also stated that the Edo State chapter of the Labour Party fully complied with INEC election guidelines in replacing his name with that of the placeholder.
Prince Asamah Kadiri gave the clarification during at a Town Meeting in which took place during the Sallah holiday , in Auchi meant to woo his kinsmen ahead of the September election.
He insisted further that any questions regarding his eligibility are unfounded and are merely the fabrications of his detractors.
Prince Kadiri, who holds the prestigious title of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, is a member of the Auchi royal family
The turnout at the town hall exceeded expectations, with the venue being full even before the scheduled start time with different Speakers eulogizing his candidacy .
Encouraged by the response, Prince Kadiri disclosed how he became the LP running mate to Barrister Olumide Akpata, stating that the lady initially listed as the LP’s deputy governorship candidate was a temporary placeholder.
He insisted that the state LP followed the proper procedure in replacing her within the specified timeframe and confirmed that INEC officially endorsed him as the rightful LP deputy governorship candidate on April 12.
The town hall was attended by community and political stakeholders across the Auchi.
Amongst who spoke and also solicits for support for the Labour Party is a political leader Alhaji Duru Yusuf, Prince Dr Nasiru Ikharo and the president of Auchi Dynamic youth Association.
. The selection of two prominent lawyers, one a former NBA President and the other a senior advocate, as the LP governorship and deputy governorship candidates respectively, poses a serious political threat to the PDP and the APC, the dominant political parties in the state.
Prince Kadiri has been actively participating in the LP campaign, joining his principal, Bar Akpata, at rallies and campaign events across the state.
The LP campaign is gaining traction and support, with its message resonating with a wide range of people including students, traders, workers, artisans, transporters, and pensioners.
