HRH Oba Azutoromhe Unuokhaizor Oba Isasaro of Sasaro clan in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo has been presented the staff of office by the Edo state government.
The presentation was performed by the
Edo State Commissioner for Local Government, Community and Chieftancy Affairs, Hon. Monday Osaigbovo, .
Osaigbovo, who was represented by Mr Michael Osabuohien, Director in the ministry said the installation was in line with the court judgement .
He urged the traditional ruler to take steps that would ensure unity in Sasaro land and also embark on activities that would fast track development in the community .
He further implored the people of Sasaro to support the Azutoromhe to enable him to effectively discharge his royal duties as the traditional ruler of Sasaro.
“Today’s historic event is the climax of the series of traditional ceremonies to mark the ascension to the revered throne of Sasaro by HRH Azutoromhe Unuokhaizor.
“It is my sincere hope and desire that all hands will be on deck to bring about the much needed progress and development to Sasaro community.
“I implore the good and hardworking people of Sasaro community to support and rally round the Oba Isasaro to enable him to effectively discharge his royal duties.
“As you are aware, no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancuor and insecurity in this regard.
“I appeal to you as the father of all in Sasaro community to endeavour to use your exalted royal position to make a positive impact on the people and to chart the path of peace, order and development at all times.
“I congratulate your Highness on your official elevation and by the grace of God, I have no doubt in my mind that your reign will be long, peaceful and prosperous.
“On behalf of the Edo State Government I present to you your royal Highness, the Staff of Office associated with the title of the Clan Head of Sasaro, “Osaigbovo said.
In his address, Oba Unuokhaizor thanked the state government for affirming the judgement of the court to install him and present the staff of the office to him.
Unuokhaizor assured that he would continue to embrace honesty, truth humility and dignity as well as living and exemplary life in the administration of the community.
He appealed to all stakeholders in Sasaro to join hands with him to ensure that the community attained its great potential.
“I want to thank Gov. Godwin Obaseki for revalidating the clanship status of the community by his approval and issuance of a letter to that effect.
“There is no doubt that therefore today’s occasion arks the beginning of a new era in Sasaro.
“I promise to live according to the tenets of my office and I am at peace with my subjects,” Unuokhaizor said.
