Edo Govt Pledges Collaboration with NGOs to Empower Women, Vulnerable Groups‎

‎The Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has pledged to partner with the MHSR Foundation and other NGOs to uplift women and vulnerable groups in the state.

‎ This commitment was made during a courtesy visit by MHSR leaders to the ministry’s office in Benin City.


‎Mrs Eugenia Abdullahi, the Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, shared this information while receiving the MHSR delegation, led by its founder, Dr Ozo Osahon Michael, in her office.

‎The MHSR delegation visited the Ministry to engage with key government officials and promote the objectives of their two-year project titled “Ivie Ñ Ovbiedo Ne Khien Yowa,” which translates to “Restoring the Dignity of the Forgotten Women of Edo State.”


‎ Mrs Abdullahi, expressed her Ministry’s readiness to partner with the Foundation and other similar organisations on development initiatives aimed at restoring dignity and improving the welfare of women and other vulnerable individuals across the state.

‎Mrs Abdullahi warmly welcomed the Foundation’s proposal, describing it as “timely and aligned with the Ministry’s mandate.” She emphasised her Ministry’s commitment to exploring partnership opportunities that would effectively drive its agenda.

‎Furthermore, she reiterated that the SHINE agenda of Governor Monday  Okpevbolo is centred on inclusive governance, people-oriented development, and innovative partnerships that create sustainable impact.

‎ The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the mobile nature of the MHSR activities. She noted that by delivering its services directly to the communities, the Foundation aligns with the scope of her Ministry’s mandate, which encompasses women, children, families, people living with disabilities, and vulnerable populations

‎The visit also served as the formal induction of Mrs Eugenia Abdullahi as the Patron of the Mobile Foundation for Health, Security, and Rehabilitation (MHSR)

‎The investiture recognises her exemplary service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to enhancing the welfare of women and vulnerable individuals in the state.

‎ In response to the overwhelming praise directed at the NGO, Dr Ozo Osahon Michael, the founder of the MHSR Foundation, assured that the Foundation would remain committed to its core mission of improving the well-being and welfare of marginalised and underserved communities.


‎Regarding the Foundation’s upcoming project, he explained that it aims to enhance the referral connections between community-based organisations and formal health and social service facilities.


‎According to him, the initiative will ensure timely and coordinated support for those in need, adding that the MHSR initiative intends to support various groups, including both men and women, as well as individuals experiencing gender-based violence (GBV), persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations who often face obstacles in accessing essential services.

‎The chairman of the Edo State chapter of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Joseph Wasah, was among the dignitaries present at the event.

‎In his brief remarks, Comrade Wasah emphasised the vital role of organised labour in promoting social justice and protecting the rights of vulnerable individuals.

‎He also underscored the importance of ongoing advocacy and multi-stakeholder partnerships, particularly with credible NGOs, to support government efforts.

‎Comrade Wasah commended the Ministry for its proactive approach in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations.
