‎Edo  Govt Acts Swiftly to Rescue Newborn, Pledges Care for Mentally Challenged Mother

‎The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Eugenia Abdallah, has intervened in the case of a mentally challenged woman who gave birth to a baby boy in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area.


‎Speaking at the Local Government Council Secretariat, Mrs Abdallah emphasized the administration’s priority to protect vulnerable groups, stating that the government remains proactive and responsive in situations involving children who require urgent care.


‎The newborn is to be placed in a secure environment for medical attention, nutrition, and developmental support, while efforts are underway to locate the mother and provide her with rehabilitation and counseling.


‎Mrs Abdallah commended the local government and Central Hospital, Ubiaja, for their swift response, and the baby has been relocated to a children’s home for care and protection .


‎Head of Local Government Administration, Mr Ernest Oyakhilome Erebholo, praised the Commissioner’s dedication and pledged continued collaboration with the Ministry.
