Edo FRSC Moves To Restore Discipline, Professionalism, Integrity of Corps

The Federal Road Safety Corps, has moved to restore discipline, professionalism, integrity and accountability the Corps is known for in the past decades.

Speaking during a sensitization program discipline aimed at reinforcing. and strengthen discipline among officers of the Corps, the Corps Marshal Shehu Muhammed, said the Corps is known for discipline, professionalism, integrity. accountability, and dedication to service.

He warned that extortion and unprofessional conducts from officers on official duty would attract severe sanctions.

According to him, the sensitization stemmed from disturbing decline in discipline, professionalism manifested in misconduct, unethical practices, abuse of authority, extortion, reckless enforcement behaviours and other actions that erode public trust in the Corps.

Represented by DCM Administration and Human Resources, Pauline Olaye, Shehu noted that such behaviours violate the Corps regulations and training, core values and ultimately endanger the credibility and reputation of the Corps.

“Discipline is not punishment, discipline is protection. It protects our reputation, our careers, the Corps and ultimately the lives of Nigerians who depend on us daily, Professionalism, therefore, is not optional in this Corps, it is mandatory”.

He said the exercises is a not a witch hunt but an opportunity to strengthen discipline, reinforce leadership accountability and restore effective command that guarantee professionalism at all times

“Every act of unprofessional conduct damages the image of thousands of disciplined staff, and every abuse of authority weakens the “trust” built over decades”.

He said extortion, harassment and abase of authority are not only illegal but a direct betrayal of the trust we swore to uphold.

He however charged the officers to recommit to excellence, restore the highest standards of discipline, reinforce command and control, rebuild pubic confidence.

“As custodians of safety on our highways the expectations placed upon us are high, and the lives of countless road users depend on our vigilance, conduct, and commitment to duty.

“Discipline remains the bedrock of any successful organization and Without discipline, there can be no effective command structure, and without a strong command and control system, there can be no operational efficiency.

Earlier, the Edo State Sector Commander, Cyril Mathew, said the exercise is a deliberate and strategic effort aimed at reinforcing the core values that define the corps

He said the programme is designed to refresh Corps understanding of operational procedures, enhance coordination, promote respect for hierarchy, and ensure that every officer clearly understands their roles and responsibilities

He said the sensitisation programme focused on discipline re-enforcement and the strengthening of command and control in field Commands.

He therefore called on officers to recommit themselves to professionalism, lawful engagement with the public, and strict adherence to established rules and regulations
