The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has fixed its nomination forms for the forthcoming local government poll at N1 million naira.
Sources in the party said the decision to peg the nomination forms at a million naira was deliberate as to generate fund to the party.
Besides, the source further stated that the idea to peg the chairmanship forms at N1m was to ensure only serious aspirants come up for the nomination form and not all commer affairs.
It was gathered that the decision was reached after an all-out reflection on the state of the party as well as the paucity of funds which may pose a serious challenge .
In a statement signed by the party’s Organising Secretary, Mr. Tony Anenih Jr, the sales of the nomination forms start on Thursday, May 4, at the party secretariat in Benin .
The statement by Mr. Anenih Jr. further said the chairmanship aspirants will pay the sum of N100, 000 naira to obtain the Expression of Interest (EOI) forms, while their Councillorship counterparts are to pay N10,000 for the EOI form and N200, 000 as nomination form.
The Edo State local government poll has been tentatively scheduled for September 2, 2023.
