Commissioner Nominee; I am a bona fide member of Edo PDP _ Dada Abubakar

By DADA AYOKHAI

Hon. Dada Abubakar has dismissed as “untrue and grossly fabricated” the rumour that he is not a bonafide member of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Etsako West local government area.

His name was among the second batch of the commissioner nominees sent for screening and confirmation to the state assembly by Gov. Obaseki.

However, members of the PDP in the local government area immediately picked holes in his nomination.

Some of the party members went to the press with allegations that the commissioner nominee was no longer a member of the PDP having defected to the NNPP prior to the February and March general elections.

The Borderline News 24 carried the story in one of its editions in which some PDP leaders in Auchi, Etsako West insisted the commissioner nominee is no longer a member of the party haven’t left to contest for the state assembly seat on the platform of another party.

They further alleged that on two different occasions in the past, Hon. Abubakar contested for the same state assembly seat and lost, wondering what could have motivated the state governor to pick a former member of the party who left the party for greener pastures elsewhere.

In a chat with Borderline News24 Hon. Abubakar. dispelled the allegations against him and located its genesis on envy and misinformation.

Hon. Abubakar, short of declaring himself as a life member of the PDP said he is a bonafide member of the party in Auchi, the political headquarters of Etsako West, noting also that he has had the rare chance of contesting for the House of Assembly seat on the platform of the party

According to him, he felt exasperated and short-changed by the political intrigues and rift within the party before the last general election.

He further stated that the internecine inter-party crisis drove him and others to the edge when all efforts at reconciliation failed.

In addition, he insisted he did not waste time to return to the PDP fold after the elections to enable him and other like minds contribute their quota to the rebuilding of the PDP ahead of the LG polls.

Hon. Abubakar was among those who returned to the party during the last Edo North rally to herald the LG poll.

Hon Abubakar will be taking over from another Auchi ,Hon Otse Momoh who resigned her appointment to contest for the House of Assembly seat which she, unfortunately, lost to the APC in the March 18 state assembly election
